Yayasan JCorp and World Chefs Championship 2026 Recognised by ASIA Records for Longest Line of Laksa Johor

ASIA Records is proud to officially recognise Yayasan JCorp, in collaboration with the World Chefs Championship 2026, for achieving the milestone:

Longest Line of Laksa Johor (108 metres; 1,200 bowls; 30 chefs)

This recognition celebrates a significant achievement in showcasing Johor’s culinary heritage on an international platform while highlighting the role of gastronomy, tourism, and community collaboration in preserving and promoting traditional Malaysian cuisine.

Bringing Johor’s Culinary Heritage to the Asian Stage

The historic achievement took place on 21 May 2026 during the World Chefs Championship 2026 at Persada Johor.

The record was achieved through the preparation of a 108-metre continuous line of Laksa Johor, involving 1,200 bowls prepared by 30 chefs, including 11 professional chefs participating in the World Chefs Championship alongside 19 Johor gastronomy entrepreneurs under Yayasan JCorp’s Projek WARO (Warisan Asli, Rasa Original) initiative.

More than a traditional dish, Laksa Johor represents the cultural identity, heritage, and culinary pride of Johor, passed down through generations and celebrated as one of the state’s most iconic foods.

Showcasing Johor to an International Audience

The initiative formed part of wider efforts to position Johor as a leading destination for gastronomy and cultural tourism in conjunction with Visit Johor 2026.

The World Chefs Championship attracted participation and visitors from 42 countries, involving more than 2,389 participants and visitors, providing a global platform to showcase Johor’s culinary traditions and local flavours.

The presence of internationally renowned culinary personality Chef Martin Yan, host of the globally recognised television programme Yan Can Cook, further elevated the international profile of the event and strengthened Johor’s visibility within the global culinary community.

Empowering Local Gastronomy Entrepreneurs

Through Projek WARO (Warisan Asli, Rasa Original), Yayasan JCorp continues to support and empower Johor’s local gastronomy entrepreneurs and businesses.

The initiative provided opportunities for local brands and food operators, including Kacang Pool Haji and Santapan Village, to participate through sales booths and promotional activities during the championship.

Beyond individual events, Projek WARO serves as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, industry players, tourism agencies, and communities in building a stronger and more sustainable gastronomy ecosystem throughout Johor.

A Collaborative Celebration of Heritage and Tourism

The initiative was organised through collaboration between Yayasan JCorp, Tourism Johor, and the World Chefs Championship 2026, reflecting the importance of strategic partnerships in promoting cultural heritage and tourism development.

The event was officiated by Encik Mohammad Nazrul bin Abd Rahim, Director of Tourism Johor, together with the presence of Chef Michael Ooi Beng Hock, President of the Malaysian Culinary Masters Association (MCMA); Yang Berhormat Dato’ Mizan bin Yahya, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp; Puan Nur Hafifah binti Dato’ Mohd Halim, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Johor; and Puan Nor Hayati binti Abdullah, Senior Tourism Officer of Tourism Malaysia Southern Region.

A Milestone Moment of Recognition

The ASIA Records certificate was officially presented on 21 May 2026 in recognition of this historic culinary achievement.

The recognition was certified and received by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Mizan bin Yahya, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp, in acknowledgement of Yayasan JCorp’s role in celebrating and promoting Johor’s culinary heritage on a broader Asian platform.

Voices of Leadership

Laksa Johor represents an important part of Johor’s identity and culture. Through this collaboration, we were able to unite chefs, entrepreneurs, tourism agencies, and the community to proudly showcase our culinary traditions to visitors from around the world.

We hope initiatives like this will continue to inspire greater appreciation for Malaysian heritage cuisine while strengthening Johor’s position as a gastronomy tourism destination.”

Advancing Culinary Tourism Across Asia

This milestone highlights the growing role of gastronomy in tourism development, cultural preservation, and regional identity.

By combining heritage cuisine, community empowerment, and international participation, the initiative demonstrates how food can serve as a powerful platform for cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and economic opportunity.
