The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has been officially recognised by ASIA Records for achieving the title of: Largest Simultaneous Sky and Water Lantern Integration Festival (Over 2 million krathongs and 100,000 sky lanterns released across all 77 provinces of Thailand)
The official certificate was presented to Ms. Sirinthara Surakanitaya, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Kuala Lumpur Office, during the culmination of the Loy KrathongโYi Peng Festival 2025, marking a breathtaking celebration of Thai tradition, unity, and cultural splendour.
A Celebration of Light, Heritage, and Harmony
The Loy KrathongโYi Peng Festival, held annually across Thailand, symbolizes gratitude, renewal, and hope โ where millions of locals and tourists release krathongs (lotus-shaped baskets) into rivers and sky lanterns into the night sky.
This yearโs celebration, held from 27 October to 5 November 2025, transcended borders and generations โ connecting communities across all 77 provinces through one luminous cultural experience.
From Bangkokโs Chao Phraya River to Chiang Maiโs night skies, the synchronized release of over two million krathongs and 100,000 sky lanterns illuminated the nation, creating a visual and emotional spectacle seen around the world.
