Hong Kong Wing Wah Cake Shop Ltd Recognised by ASIA Records for Creating the First White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake

ASIA Records is proud to officially recognise Hong Kong Wing Wah Cake Shop Ltd (Wing Wah Food Manufactory Ltd) for achieving a significant continental milestone as the:

First White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake Creator (introduced in 1960s; brand established 1950).

This recognition honours Hong Kong Wing Wah’s pioneering contribution to Chinese pastry craftsmanship through the creation of the first White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake—an innovation that transformed traditional mooncake making and has remained an enduring symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival across Asia for generations.

Pioneering a New Classic in Mooncake Heritage

Founded in Yuen Long, Hong Kong, in 1950, Hong Kong Wing Wah Cake Shop began as a traditional tea house before expanding into mooncake manufacturing during the 1960s.

During this period, the company pioneered the White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake, becoming the first to replace traditional lard with vegetable oil. This innovation created a smoother, more delicate lotus seed paste with a refined fragrance, setting a new standard for mooncake craftsmanship and becoming a defining milestone in the evolution of traditional Chinese pastries.

Its signature Double Yolk White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake has since become one of the brand’s most celebrated creations, earning widespread recognition for its exceptional taste, quality, and consistency.

Today, Wing Wah Mooncakes remain a cherished symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing the spirit of reunion and the richness of Chinese culinary heritage to families across Asia and around the world.

Sharing Chinese Culinary Tradition with the World

Following the establishment of its manufacturing facilities and retail network, Wing Wah expanded beyond Hong Kong to serve customers internationally.

Today, its mooncakes are distributed to more than 100 countries and cities, including Mainland China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, bringing traditional Chinese festive culture to overseas communities around the world.

For generations of families, Wing Wah Mooncakes have become synonymous with reunion, celebration, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Preserving Heritage Through Innovation

Over the decades, Hong Kong Wing Wah has continued to balance heritage with innovation by investing in modern manufacturing while preserving traditional craftsmanship and recipes.

Beyond its renowned mooncakes, the Group continues to operate its restaurants and promote the distinctive food culture of Yuen Long, helping preserve Hong Kong’s rich culinary traditions for future generations.
