ASIA Records Hosted 3rd Gather of Achievers in Penang, Recognising Tourism, Food, and Outstanding Corporate Achievements

First-ever Gather of Achievers in Penang celebrates Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve under the ASIA Tourism Records initiative, while 50 Wira and Manja mascots make their debut in the Pearl of the Orient in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026

ASIA Records successfully hosted the 3rd ASIA Records Gather of Achievers at The Top, Komtar Penang, marking the platform’s first-ever Gather of Achievers in Penang since its founding.

The event was officiated by YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, joined by YB Teh Lai Heng (ADUN Komtar), YB Wong Yuee Harng (ADUN Pengkalan Kota), and YB Joseph Ng (ADUN Air Itam). The ceremony was presided over by Directors and Co-Chief Adjudicators Ms Gillian Ooi and Mr Eldrick Koh.

A Growing Continental Platform for Verified Excellence

Since its official launch on 22 October 2025, ASIA Records has evolved into a structured continental certification platform, recognising verified and measurable achievements across Asia.

The platform has welcomed record holders from Malaysia, Thailand, and China, while its growing digital presence continues to expand its reach across the region.

“Recognition is only the beginning — connection is the real impact. Every Gather of Achievers is built with intention — not just to present certificates, but to bring achievers together to inspire one another and grow beyond individual recognition.”
Ms Gillian Ooi, Executive Director & Co-Chief Adjudicator, ASIA Records

Tourism and Food Records Expand to Penang — Strengthening Asia’s Destination Narrative

Following the official endorsement of the ASEAN Tourism Records and ASIA Tourism Records initiative by YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, and the official launch of ASEAN Food Records and ASIA Food Records officiated by YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, ASIA Records continues to recognise destinations based on verified, measurable significance.

Today, the initiative arrives in Penang, with one of the state’s most iconic landmarks receiving dual certification:

Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve — Oldest Colonial Hill Station within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
(Discovered in 1788; UNESCO MAB Programme designation received 2021; 233 years between establishment and designation) — ASEAN Tourism Records & ASIA Tourism Records (Dual Certification)

Through this framework, destinations are documented, verified, and recognised based on measurable attributes—strengthening their positioning across regional and international audiences.

50 Wira and Manja Make Their First Penang Appearance

The ceremony also witnessed a celebratory milestone — the official appearance of 50 Wira and Manja mascots, the official mascots of Visit Malaysia 2026, in Penang for the very first time.

The showcase was officiated by YB Wong Hon Wai, alongside co-presenting YBs, representatives from The Top Penang, and the Directors of ASIA Records — marking a symbolic moment that connects national tourism identity with regional recognition platforms.
