ASIA Records is proud to officially recognise Hot FM for achieving the milestone:
Highest Continuous Live Radio Broadcast from the World’s Second Tallest Building, Merdeka 118 (Level G to Spire Level 16; 566 m above ground; 4 hours 5 minutes uninterrupted; 4 announcers; 18 May 2026)
This recognition marks another groundbreaking achievement in Asia’s broadcasting industry, demonstrating Hot FM’s continued commitment to pushing creative and technical boundaries through bold live broadcast challenges.

Broadcasting from New Heights Above Kuala Lumpur

The historic broadcast took place at Merdeka 118, the tallest building in Malaysia and the second tallest building in the world.
Led by Hot FM personalities Khairy Jamaluddin, Johan, Farah Fauzana, and AG Azmeer, the team successfully conducted a continuous live radio broadcast from Spire Level 16, approximately 566 metres above ground.
The challenge represented another milestone in Hot FM’s growing series of unconventional live broadcasting initiatives, following previous achievements that included underwater broadcasting and mountain-top radio broadcasts.

Pushing the Boundaries of Radio Broadcasting

The broadcast was made possible through collaboration with PNB Merdeka Ventures, as part of efforts to showcase Merdeka 118 and introduce the iconic landmark to the public through a unique media experience.
Unlike a conventional studio broadcast, the initiative involved operating under extreme altitude conditions while ensuring uninterrupted live transmission, stable communication lines, and safety coordination throughout the session.
The team also faced weather-related considerations, including wind conditions and lightning risks, given the extreme height of the spire location.
Despite these technical and environmental challenges, the live broadcast was successfully completed, marking a first-of-its-kind achievement in the region.

A Culture of Innovation and Adventure

Hot FM has consistently positioned itself as a station willing to explore new formats and experiences beyond traditional studio broadcasting.
Through initiatives such as climbing Mount Kinabalu, underwater live broadcasts, and now broadcasting from one of the world’s tallest buildings, the station continues to demonstrate how radio can evolve into immersive, experience-driven media engagement.
The initiative also reflects the growing culture within the Hot FM team to embrace fitness, adventure, and self-challenge as part of its on-air identity and connection with audiences.

A Milestone Moment of Recognition

The ASIA Records certificate was officially presented on 18 May 2026 at Merdeka 118, Kuala Lumpur.
The recognition was certified and received by Nazri Noran, Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Audio, together with Hot FM radio personalities Khairy Jamaluddin, Johan, Farah Fauzana, AG Azmeer, and the entire Hot FM team, in acknowledgement of their achievement in redefining live radio broadcasting through innovation and high-altitude execution.

Voices of Leadership
Reflecting on the recognition, Nazri Noran, Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Audio, shared:

“Merdeka 118 is the tallest building in Malaysia, and for us, it represented the next challenge after our previous broadcasting achievements. We wanted to do something extraordinary — not just broadcasting from the building itself, but from the spire, which had never officially been done before.
This initiative took nearly a year of planning together with PNB Merdeka Ventures. There were many challenges involved, especially weather conditions, wind, lightning risks, and maintaining stable live broadcast lines at such an extreme height.
At Hot FM, we believe broadcasting is more than just sitting inside a studio. We want to show that radio personalities and media teams can challenge themselves, explore adventure, and create experiences that inspire Malaysians to step outside their comfort zones and try something extraordinary.”
Advancing Experiential Broadcasting in Asia

This milestone highlights the evolving role of media and broadcasting in creating immersive audience experiences beyond traditional formats.
By combining live entertainment, technical execution, and adventure-driven storytelling, Hot FM continues to set new standards for experiential broadcasting in the region.
The achievement also reinforces Malaysia’s growing reputation as a destination capable of hosting bold and innovative media initiatives on a global scale.
