Cambridge English For Life Recognised by ASIA Records for Building Asia’s Longest-Established and Largest Homegrown Network of CEFR-Aligned English Language Centres

ASIA Records is proud to officially recognise Cambridge English For Life Sdn Bhd (CEFL) for achieving the milestone:

Longest-Established and Largest Homegrown Single-Language Provider Network of CEFR-Aligned English Language Centres (69 centres; Malaysian-founded; CEFR-aligned since 2001)

This recognition celebrates a significant achievement in English language education and marks another milestone for CEFL as it commemorates its 25th anniversary, reflecting a quarter-century of dedication to advancing English proficiency and educational excellence.

A Pioneer in English Language Education

Founded in Malaysia in 2001, Cambridge English For Life began as a homegrown education initiative with a vision of making quality English language education accessible to learners of all ages.

Since its inception, CEFL has aligned its programmes with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), long before international benchmarks became widely adopted in local schools.

Today, CEFL operates 69 centres nationwide and has nurtured more than 100,000 students, establishing itself as Asia’s longest-established and largest homegrown single-language provider network of CEFR-aligned English language centres.

Advancing Global Standards Through Local Excellence

For over two decades, CEFL has strengthened its curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment approach based on internationally recognised standards.

By adopting CEFR from its early years, CEFL has helped learners build practical communication skills and globally relevant English proficiency for academic, professional, and personal development.

Its growth reflects how a Malaysian education brand can deliver international learning standards while remaining accessible to local families and communities.

Celebrating 25 Years of Student Achievement

The ASIA Records recognition was presented during CEFL’s Excellence Award Ceremony (EAC) held at Management and Science University (MSU), Shah Alam, as part of its Silver Jubilee celebration.

The event brought together approximately 2,000 attendees, including students, parents, teachers, and partners, while honouring close to 600 students who excelled in their Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) across both physical and digital assessment formats.

A Milestone Moment of Recognition

The ASIA Records certificate was officially presented on 24 May 2026.

The recognition was certified and received by Dr Elsie Chin, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge English For Life, together with Mr Daniel Sim, Executive Director, in acknowledgement of CEFL’s longstanding contribution to English language education and its leadership in CEFR-aligned learning.

Voices of Leadership

Reflecting on the recognition, Dr Elsie Chin, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge English For Life, shared:

“Twenty-five years ago, I believed that quality English education could transform lives. This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the trust and support of our students, parents, educators, franchise partners, and team members who have been part of CEFL’s journey.

We remain committed to delivering internationally aligned English education that is accessible, engaging, and relevant for Malaysian families.”

Daniel Sim, Executive Director of Cambridge English For Life, added:

“To be recognised across Asia as a homegrown Malaysian brand shows that local education providers can meet international standards. Since 2001, CEFL has aligned its programmes with CEFR benchmarks, and we will continue strengthening our role in English language education.”

Looking Ahead

In conjunction with its 25th anniversary, CEFL will continue rolling out education-focused initiatives throughout 2026, including community outreach programmes, public English proficiency activities, the National English Proficiency Challenge Championship, and CEFL Forum 2026.

These initiatives reflect CEFL’s ongoing commitment to making high-quality English education accessible while contributing to the future of language learning in Malaysia and across the region.
